Huawei’s Green RAN solution was awarded the Most Sustainable Network Solution at the 5G World 2021 Summit hosted by Informa. This award reflects that Huawei’s continuous efforts to innovate green RAN solutions are highly praised in the industry.

Now carbon emissions peaking and carbon neutrality has been mainstream all over the world. Huawei is continuously innovating on Green RAN that minimizes power consumption at the device, site, and network levels to help operators build green networks and achieve “dual-carbon” goal.

Hardware devices are more energy saving with more energy-efficient components. Huawei has launched Massive MIMO which are the lightest, the highest output power, and lower power consumption products in the industry and can be installed by a single person. To help operators greatly improve deployment efficiency and, more essentially, cut electricity consumption. Huawei adapts a series of innovative solutions, such as super beamforming, SRS based precise beamforming, and MU-MIMO, to notably improve network performance, helping increase device energy efficiency by 20 times.

Site construction is simplified to further help operators reduce electricity consumption and rents. For example, designed with zero footprint in mind, Super BladeSite uses blade power supplies to supply power to RRU and AAU modules, increasing the power efficiency to 97%. The C-RAN solution enables devices previously in separate equipment rooms to be housed in just one equipment room to minimize the number of air conditioners required at sites. Power consumption can be reduced by 30% at the site level with simplified sites.

At the network level, Huawei’s innovative solutions are provided to help bring down energy usage of networks without impact on its performance through coordination among different frequency bands and radio access technologies. Intelligent technologies are capitalized on to adapt spectrum and many other resources to real-time service changes in networks while ensuring user experience. Green RAN solutions simplifies energy-saving O&M and optimizes the durations for which resource types are shut down. This multi-dimension collaboration considerably boosts network energy efficiency to maximize both energy saving and network performance.

5G World Summit 2021 presents 14 special awards to recognize leading telecom businesses who have made outstanding achievements in 5G. It looks to unleash the potential of 5G and promote its business success around the world. Innovative achievements in 5G wireless access networks, cloud core networks, network automation, service applications, network security, and network sustainability are also showcased at the summit.
